How To Surrender

Are you looking for a new home for your cat? If so, you're in the right place! We are here to help you safely find a loving forever home for your cat.

If you would like to surrender your cat to send to Europe or  Switzerland, please read the following carefully. It is important that all health checks, vaccinations, rabies shots and paperwork are prepared correctly, to avoid a difficult situation when the cats arrive in Switzerland at the border control.

This page will help you and us to ensure, we have a smooth experience together :)

Whether you found a poor animal on the street or are giving up your cats for whatever reason, please ensure you follow these steps.

1. Health check.

We need a certified health check from one of the following veterinary clinics:

  1. CAMPANION

  2. International veterinary hospital

  3. Royal veterinary

2. Complete the Surrender Form

Ensure you have the following information handy (if available) prior to filling the form out.

  • Microchip number (if available)

  • Health certificate

  • Date of vaccinations (if available)

  • Date of FLV shot

  • Date of  rabies shot (if available)

  • Date of titre test  (if available)

  • 3 good photos showing your cat at play, resting and being with a human.

3. We will email you with any further questions.

4. Based on the information you have provided, we will promote your cat on our website.

Future homes are vetted, they fill out a form, and go through a phone interview. Normally we have 2 or 3 potential homes prepared. Once the cat arrives to EU/Switzerland, we prepare a face-to-face preliminary meeting. Ultimately, the cat also selects their forever home   :)

During the on-site meeting, we observe the cat’s behaviour, and determine the dynamic if the cat feels comfortable. Is the future owner  patient and has the experience and emotional Investment to welcome  a new family member?  Our aim is to avoid cats returning to us, for whatever the reason my be.

Waiting quarantine time

It is important, that a cat has a safe place to stay for 3-4 months indoors, after the rabies shot and quarantine period for the titre test results. If you are able to provide that, your cat has a higher chance of being adopted. Foster homes are reimbursed a fixed fee for cat food and sand, after the cat has been collected for travel.

Important:

Because Kuwait is considered a rabies-endangered country, a titre test is required. The cat must be microchipped first and then afterwards given a rabies shot.

You or someone must keep the cat safe for 1 month, when a titre test is taken to check if enough anti-rabies cells are developed.

Once received, we need to wait a further 3 months.

We use this waiting time for the rabies titre test results, to find a new homes. We give an estimated date when the cat would be ready for travel. (Ie. 3 months from titre test)

“All animals coming into Switzerland need to be identified by a microchip (ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO standard 11785), no other method of identification will be recognised. All animals should have complete vaccinations. And rabies titre test 3 months.

We can only accept cats that have been health-checked by one of our recognised vet clinics. Once past, we can continue the process of micro-chipping, vaccinations and rabies shots.”
