Our founder's journey into cat rescue began with two beloved companions who lived to the impressive age of 18 years. Their unwavering companionship and the profound bond they shared inspired her to want to help more cats in need.
The cats of Kuwait
Awareness of the Plight of Street Cats in Kuwait
A friend of our founder made her aware of the dire situation facing street cats in Kuwait. In this region, cats of all breeds, from tabbies to purebreds, are often discarded onto the streets or even worse, fed to reptile or bird pets. This revelation sparked a deep sense of compassion and a desire to take action.
Bridging the Gap for Cats in Kuwait
Through extensive research, our founder discovered various animal welfare organizations that were rescuing cats from Kuwait, but primarily relocating them to the US. Recognizing the excess of cats in Kuwait and the countless homes in Europe eager to adopt, she saw an opportunity to bridge this gap. Thus, Mimi's Cat Refuge was born, with a mission to rescue cats from Kuwait and connect them with loving homes across Europe.
